New York, New York!

We were up very early this morning - 5 o'clock, to get dressed and packed so that we could check out of the hotel, have breakfast at a nearby waffle shop and be back to the hotel in time to catch taxis to Union Station at 6:30.  We were on the Amtrak train to New York by 7 o'clock and chugging off at 7:30.

We arrived at Penn Station, New York at 10:40am and walked the three blocks to Times Square, where our apartment hotel is.

We were too early to check in, so just stored our luggage and hopped on the subway uptown to Yankee Stadium to see the NY Yankees baseball game against the Boston Redsox.

Me ... a sucker for crass merchandise??  ABSOLUTELY!!

After the game, we took the subway back to the Rockerfeller Centre, which is near Times Square and then walked the couple of blocks back to the hotel.  We went through a Sunday Market on 42nd Street and the kids bought some t-shirts.  Wayne bought half a dozen deep-fried Orios.  Yes, these are exactly as they sound ... chocolate cookies, dipped in batter and fried, then dusted liberally with icing sugar.  They were delicious!!!  We also passed Radio City Music Hall on our way home.

Once we were back at the hotel, we finally checked-in and unpacked.  The room is on the 38th floor and we have an amazing view of Times Square out the window!

In the evening the kids went shopping for jeans, jackets, shoes ... whatever!  Wayne and I went for a stroll and ended up at TGI Friday's, where we had dinner.  Everyone was back home by 10-ish and into bed not long after that.  What a day!
