Flying to the US

We were up bright and early at 4am and were showered, dressed, packed and ready for the maxi taxi to pick us up at 6am.  Everything went fairly smoothly at the airport, except that Torie's carry-on bag was a little too heavy, so we ended up taking the essentials out and checking it in.  The flight to LA was long and boring, and Lizzy was still feeling very unwell with her throat infection.  Virgin Australia's food was very good and they even catered for my vegan diet with very tasty food.

Sixteen hours later we arrived in LA and picked up our luggage, checking it in again for Orlando, via Dallas, Texas.  We had time to go and get something to eat and ended up at Starbuck's.  After a few minutes the time difference started to hit Richie, Lizzy and me and we actually fell asleep at the table!  Torie woke us up about twenty minutes later, but we were not really right and moved like walking dead to the boarding gate.  Torie was talking to me about the duration of the next flights and I couldn't understand what she was saying.  Once we were settled onboard the plane, we were all fast asleep again, even before it took off.

We arrived in Dallas three hours later and walked through the airport, looking for a place for dinner.  On the way we passed a place where two cops were having their shoes shined.

We looked at a few different fast-food restaurants and finally decided on one called "Fudruckers".   Wayne and the kids had burgers & chips and I had a veggie burrito.  Lizzy was still feeling very unwell.  I hope she gets well quickly, once we have settled in the apartment at Disney.  We were nearly finished eating when Wayne heard an announcement that the boarding gate for our flight had been changed from the one that was near us to one that was way on the other side of the airport.  We had to rush and catch a shuttle bus which took 15 minutes and we only got onto the plane about five minutes before it took off!

After another 2-1/2 hour flight we finally arrived in Orlando, very tired but very happy to be there!

A 15 minute taxi ride took us through Orlando to Disney World, where we checked into our apartment at the Old Key West resort.  Our grocery order which we had faxed through earlier in the week had been delivered and unpacked for us, so all we had to do was unpack our bags, make a cuppa and hit the pillow!  33 hours after getting up on Saturday morning, we all slept extremely well.

Here are some shots of the Old Key West resort and our apartment.
