Karen Baptism

It was so nice at Church, today. The Karen community have had two new babies and they were baptised today. So we welcomed Maria and Ah Law to the Mullum Mullum parish family. Then, after Church, I was asked by one of the elders if I could take the children of a Sudanese family home, because she had to accompany their mother to the hospital where their older brother was having surgery on his leg which was broken at a soccer game yesterday. So, Nyuon, Ngor & Bayak enjoyed a ride home with the roof of the car down.

Then later this afternoon, I spent a couple of hours visiting my friend Ronnie. It was good to catch up with her and find out how she's going.

St Pauls Players

We had such a busy, happy day today! Firstly, Wayne & I went up to St Andrew's Market with Torie & her boyfriend Nick. We bought lots of lovely organic fruit & veggies, fresh almonds, some raw honey and handmade dips & soaps. Torie also got herself a fantastic poncho. Then, back at home we made baked potatoes with all the toppings and some corn on the cob for lunch and finished them off with freshly-baked blueberry muffins.

Then, Wayne & I went off to the Church at Ringwood to see a musical production by St Paul's Players. It was very entertaining!

In the evening we all went with Lizzy to watch her play basketball. I was rostered to score, but the scoresheet was missing, so we had to draw one up on a plain piece of paper. Lizzy played really well and they ended up winning 37-19.

Vocal Vibes Birthday

The choir I belong to had their first birthday this week. It is one year since Vocal Vibes was registered with Sweet Adelines International and we had a party on Monday night to celebrate. I just love the songs we sing and the beautiful harmonies we make together. But more importantly, I love the way I have been so warmly welcomed into this lovely bunch of talented women!

Pocahontas

Lizzy went to a birthday party last night where they had to dress up as one of the Disney Princesses. She went as Pocahontas. I wonder what the boys wore?

A Lovely Birthday Lunch

Well, what a successful day it was!! Everyone arrived at noon and we had a lovely roast beef dinner for lunch, followed by a wonderful birthday cake for Mum. Then we all sat in the lounge room and chatted and laughed about "old times" until about 4pm, when Richie took Torie & her boyfriend Nick home to their place in Blackrock and Wayne & I took Lizzy home, so she could get ready for a party.

Happy Hour

What a lovely day we had today! We slept in and took it pretty easy in the morning, chatting and looking at stuff on the computer. Then we went for a swim in the heated indoor pool at Mum & Dad's retirement village. Back home for lunch and then we went to Cowes to browse some shops. Mum bought a new fragranced candle for the lantern on their front porch and we looked through the bookshop. After all that hard work, we just had to stop in a coffee shop for a cappucino (Mum), a soy hot chocolate (me) and a long back coffee (Dad). Then we shopped for the food for tomorrow's lunch with the family and returned home in time for Happy Hour on the front porch (see photos below). Went to communion at 6pm, home for tea and to watch some episodes of "The Vicar of Dibley" and then to bed.

Mum's Birthday

I am visiting Mum & Dad this weekend, as it is Mum's birthday today. I travelled down to Phillip Island by bus because Wayne and the kids will be joining us on Sunday for a special birthday lunch for Mum. It was nice, taking the bus and not having to drive ... I read some, knitted a bit, listened to my iPod, ate my lunch and then had a little nap and awoke as we were arriving in San Remo. It was all so relaxed and I had the chance to look out the window at all the lovely scenery we were passing. I arrived in Cowes refreshed and ready to spend a lovely afternoon with Mum & Dad.

Mum's thinking about selling their car and getting a buggy to drive along the footpath. I think it's a great idea and we went to have a look at some this afternoon. Mum test drove a single seater, but they will end up getting a double seater so that they can go places together.

It was a nice day.
